Oval Village wins London Planning Awards 2020

29 Jan 2020

Berkeley Homes recently picked up two of the top prizes for their Oval Village development at the Building London Planning Awards 2020.

The development, built on a former SGN gasholder site, won the Best Mixed-Use Scheme category and the overall award, known as, the Mayor’s Award for Good Growth.

The creative retention of the listed Victorian gasholder forms a centrepiece to this scheme which includes 500 homes and offers commercial space well-tailored to the site and local economy, creating 1,400 jobs.

Commenting at the award ceremony Jasmine Whitbread, Chief Executive of London First, said “London never stands still, with a huge range of projects making a positive difference to the way we live, work and enjoy our free time. This year’s awards showcases the developments going above and beyond for the capital, from delivering beautifully designed affordable housing to safeguarding, and opening up access to, heritage assets for communities.”

The annual awards celebrate outstanding development and planning in London. They are organised by London First, in partnership with the Mayor of London, London Councils, the Planning Officers Society London and the Royal Town Planning Institute.
