Tullos, Aberdeen

SGN’s former gasholder at Tullos, was sold to Aberdeen City Council in 2018.

The site is currently being developed into a £150m waste to energy plant which will provide low cost heat and power to the neighbouring areas. It will have an installed capacity of 14MW and be able to process 150,000 tonnes of waste every year from 2022, gathered from Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray Councils.

It comes as Scottish councils prepare for a ban on putting any biodegradable municipal waste into landfill, which will come into force in 2025, having been pushed back from the original date proposed of 2021.

The project is being undertaken by ACCONIA, on behalf of Aberdeen City, Moray and Aberdeenshire Councils.
